Way back in the year 2010, front lacing corsets got quite popular. But a high number of experts do not recommend wearing these front lacing corsets. To understand why this is so, it is important to know a couple of things first.

Why many women chose front lacing corsets?

Many women chose to wear front lacing corsets a couple of years ago due to some possible reasons. These are some basic reasons you may have also found wearing a front lacing corset to be a beneficial act.

  • Sitting Comfortably:

How many times have you felt a bump on your back due to the back-lacing while sitting on a chair or a sofa? Of course, having a front lacing surely saves you from such a situation, and you can sit wherever you wish to.

  • Sleeping Properly:

With that knot on your back, sleeping can also be a tough job. Though it is recommended not to sleep with the corsets on, some people do so. The front lacing corsets are great as they allow you to sleep on your back comfortably.

  • Wearing with Ease:

You will require the help of someone to tighten the lace at your back most of the time. When the lacing is at the front, you can easily wear the corset alone without anyone else’s help.

  • For Claustrophobic Situations:

There can be countless times when you may feel claustrophobic or uneasy when you are wearing the Bespoke Corset for a long time. When you have a front lacing, you can immediately open up the laces on your own in such a situation.

  • Easy Adjustments:

In case of a back lacing corset, you will require a mirror to adjust the laces after some time. But when you have a front lacing corset, adjusting the laces and the corset becomes much convenient.

Why Wearing a Front Lacing Corset is not a Great Idea?

Experts summarize reasons stating why wearing a front lacing corset is not a great idea. Here are most common ways how a front lacing corset may harm you.

  • Lumbar Pain:

Some women complain of lumbar pain after wearing corsets. There can be many ins and outs for this, such as not wearing the right size or the right corset. Wearing a front lacing corset is one of the major reasons to have lumbar pain. This is for the reason that, in most of the cases, that is a bone offered just at the center in parallel to your backbone. This exerts pressure on your vertebrae, and this causes lumbar pain.

  • Bulging Abdomen:

If you already have a fleshy abdomen, the front lacing corset is not for you. You might purchase such a corset considering the benefits that it offers. But as soon as you start wearing, you will understand the actual side effect. When the fat on your waist side is pressurized, it needs to push towards somewhere. As the front has the lacing, this fat moves towards the front. This may create a bulging abdomen at many times. In such a case, either you need to tighten the lace extremely hard, or you should switch to a back lacing corset.

  • Pressure on Solid Organs:

The stomach or the intestines are soft organs that are flexible. Hence, putting pressure on them is not as dangerous as exerting pressure on the kidneys. The kidneys are solid organs, and often the bone at the back in a front lacing corset exerts intense pressure on them. This can cause damage to kidneys and other similar organs.

When Can You Wear a Front Lacing Corset?

Now, if you have already bought a front lacing corset, you do not have to throw it out. Though experts do not recommend wearing it, there are some times when you are wearing them.

  • Wearing the front lacing corsets for a long time is not a great idea. You can put them on for a short time to compliment your dress.
  • If you are using a corset just for posture and reducing just around 2 to 4 inches, you can wear a front lacing corset.
  • If you have trouble moving your shoulder much for lacing up the corset at the back, you might go for the front lacing corset.

Women who have issues such as hernia and similar others should always refrain from wearing a front lacing corset.

Let’s Sum Up

Corsets are available in front of lacing as well as back lacing options. Though front lacing corsets offer many benefits such as convenience, it has got its harmful impacts too. It is important to consider these facts very seriously while you are choosing the right corset for you. Often choosing the wrong corset may make you regret while choosing the right one can offer you amazing benefits ahead.
